Bio
The Moores – six siblings – each passionate about the music they produce, each bringing unique skill sets - six individuals who are very different, but who come together to create a sound like none have heard before.
This sound is best described as a unique expression of new-traditional bluegrass – a sound which will be familiar in many ways, but completely fresh in many more. Driven by unstoppable live energy, grounded by a rock-solid rhythm section, complemented by tasteful banjo work, and capped off with dual fiddles, The Moores compose and perform a powerful style of bluegrass music which is not hesitant to innovate, making use of the impressive catalog of original material which the band writes – yet pays respect to the musical predecessors they often draw upon. From the most rural bluegrass festival, to eclectic music festivals, to the finest cultural arts center, The Moores have an audience appeal which defies boundaries of genre – all the while remaining true to an understanding of bluegrass which any fan of the music can relate to.
Attending a performance by The Moores will put you on the very edge of your seat and will always leave you wanting to hear more. Sibling harmonies, deep and thoughtful lyrics, and a powerhouse of instrumentation drive the entire performance of straightforward, creative, new-traditional bluegrass. It’s no wonder The Moores soon become a favorite act at every venue they visit. Their career has been further characterized by their authentic interactions with audience members and by their personal genuineness, which remains constant both on and off stage.
Some notable past performances include: Merlefest, IBMA Official Showcase Artist, Rudy Fest, Appaloosa Music Festival, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver Festival, PBS Song of the Mountains, Carolina in the Fall, Camp Springs Bluegrass Festival, Stan Rogers Folk Festival Nova Scotia, IBMA Wide Open Bluegrass, Prince Edward Island Bluegrass Festival, Bluegrass Island.
Through it all, The Moores recognize that they are indebted to their fans for the kind and faithful support of their music which so many have shown. Most importantly, however, The Moores thank God for His countless blessings, His love, and the precious gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
